About This Week

This week, we will begin our new unit: La ciencia y tecnología. We will start this unit by examining the impact that scientific and technological development has in our lives.

Please check the calendar for important dates. Be prepared to present current events throughout the week.

Here are some resources to help you further contextualize our new theme: Tecnología, individuo y sociedad.

La IWM mil” by Alicia Yáñez Cossío. Students should research Yáñez Cossío’s nationality, background, and purpose in writing this text. Then, you may compare this text to other stories that predict technology before its development. Example: Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

 

 

 

Monday

What are the learning objectives?

  • The student comprehends level appropriate spoken and written language on topics related to contemporary, historical and literary events and issues utilizing cultural references, where appropriate, presented through a variety of media in the target language, including authentic materials.
  • The student plans, produces, and presents spoken and written presentational communications.

What are we doing today?

  • Students will take the End-of-Unit Assessment for the unit Families and Communities.
  • Students will continue presenting their video projects.

What is the homework?

  • Under El reflejo category of your blog, answer the following question in 250 words: Si la tecnología de hoy hubiera existido en el pasado, ¿cuáles eventos no habrían ocurrido o habrían sido diferentes?
  • Check calendar for important due dates.
  • Study your vocabulary.

Tuesday

What are the learning objectives?

  • The student communicates original thoughts and reacts to conversational input using sentences and strings of sentences.
  • The student plans, produces, and presents spoken and written presentational communications.

What are we doing today?

  • Warm-up: Si la tecnología de hoy hubiera existido en el pasado, ¿cuáles eventos no habrían ocurrido o habrían sido diferentes?
  • Students will have an opportunity to earn participation points by participating in discussion about the uses of technology.
  • Students will continue presenting their video projects.

What is the homework?

  • Read No sin mi móvil on p. 74 and answer the comprehension questions.
  • Check calendar for important due dates.

  • Students will present current events.
