Spanish III Honors: Week of February 4

About This Week

This week, students will continue with our first thematic unit of the semester, En el consultorio. Click here for the vocabulary list. Students will be assessed over the vocabulary used to talk about medical emergencies and physical feelings on Thursday. This will be a listening assessment in which students will hear a word being defined in Spanish and asked to select the correct answer from a word bank. Students will also learn how to use the imperfect tense.

Prerequisite Skills:

Students should still continue to study the formations and meanings of verbs in the preterite tense. preterito-conjugation-sheet-master (1)

 


Monday

What are the learning objectives?

  • Students will be able to name some parts of the body.
  • Students will be able to talk about illnesses and accidents.
  • Students will be able recognize expressions used to discuss medical conditions.

What are we doing today?

  • Students will go over the reading activities from Friday.
  • Students will complete listening and reading activities on p. 19 of their textbook.
  • Students will also complete a reading +video activity on pp. 22-24.

What is the homework?

  • Complete your VHL assignments.
  • Study vocabulary.
  • Check the class calendar for important dates.

Tuesday

What are we doing today?

  • Students will complete several practices activities with their new vocabulary:
    • Students will complete an activity in which they pair definitions with a word.
    • Students will play Ay Caramba.
    • Students will play a card game matching the definition they hear with a vocabulary word.
    • Students will complete a cloze activity using their vocabulary.

What is the homework?

  • Complete your VHL assignments.
  • Study vocabulary.
  • Check the class calendar for important dates.

Wednesday

What are the learning objectives?

  • Students will be able to name some parts of the body.
  • Students will be able to talk about illnesses and accidents.

What are we doing today?

  • Students will be informally quizzed over their vocabulary in preparation for tomorrow’s assessment.
  • Students will learn how about the imperfect past tense (See ppt. below).
  • Students will complete translations and a drawing activity using the imperfect tense.

  • Study vocabulary.

Thursday

What are the learning objectives?

  • Students will have time to review for today’s vocabulary assessment.
  • Students will take a listening (interpretive) assessment over their unit vocabulary.
  • Student  will complete cloze and crossword activities with the imperfect tense.
  • Students will begin working on their Cuando era niño assignment.

What is the homework?

  • Bring your baby pictures to class tomorrow.
  • Complete your VHL assignments.
  • Study vocabulary.

Friday
