Begin working on your first cultural comparison presentation. First presentations are on Wednesday, 1/11.
What are the learning objectives?
Identify and summarize the main points and significant details and make appropriate inferences and predictions from a spoken source, such as a broadcast news report or a lecture, on an academic or cultural topic related to the Spanish-speaking world.
Initiate, maintain, and close a conversation on a familiar topic.
Use language that is semantically and grammatically accurate.
What are we doing today?
Students will practice using the vocabulary contextually.
Students will complete an interpersonal activity about their future education and professional careers.
Students will write a journal entry then pair and share.
Students will listen to and take notes on a podcast about how the siesta in Spain is becoming less common due to globalization and keeping up with the pace of the European Union.
What is the homework?
Find a Spanish language source (articles, blogs, podcasts, etc.) that discusses a challenge or trend related to contemporary life and write a 200 word reflection piece. Include the potential causes and implications of the challenge or trend and relate it to your own community. Be prepared to share with the class on Tuesday.
